Nicaragua is located in te middle of the Americas.
Its privileged location allows it to be very accesible from everywhere around
the world. Its variety of natural resources is unique. Surrounded by two oceans:
The Pacific Ocean and the Caribbean Sea, Nicaragua has also many rivers, lagoons
and the two largest lakes in Central America: The Lake of Managua, also called
Xolotlán in nahualt language and the Lake of Nicaragua, called also lake
Cocibolca. The lake of Nicaragua is the eighth largest lake in the world and it
is the only place in the world where you can find sweet water sharks, which are
endangered species.
Nicaragua also has thirteen volcanoes, seven of them are still active. Two of this volcanoes, Momotombo and Concepción, are among the 10 volcanoes in the world with the most perfect cone. However, all this beauty has been damaged in some ways by sub development, politicians and the governments in power the last 80 years. Besides, the nature has took some part on it. Hurricanes, Tsunamis, Earthquakes, have affected the environment. But it has been the human being the main responsible of the damage to our country: deforestation, wrong farming practices, use of toxic chemicals as fertilizers, misuse of the land and the water, and many other practices that the nicaraguan farmers have practiced for years and years. The result of all this damage is hunger, poverty, sub development and a very concerning future for our children.
But, it was not God´s plan that the human being destroyed His Creation. As he said in Genesis to the first human beings: "Multiply and fill the earth and subdue it. Be masters over the fish and birds and all the animals... Look! I have given you the seed-bearing plants throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. And I have given all the grasses and other green plants to the animals and birds for their food". Gen. 1: 28-30 (New Living Translation)
But the human being certainly has abused of that assignment and has destroyed the soils, the rivers, the lakes and we have make disappear many animal species that God created. That is why Rancho Ebenezer was born in 1987, founded by six pastors, men and women, as a way to confess our sins, on behalf of the entire mankind and tell God: " Here we are, Lord, send me". Send me to restore your creation, send me to reliev the hunger in my country, send me to show your love thru concrete actions, send me to serve others as you did.
In Nicaragua, more than the 70 % of the population does not have a job in the rural areas, so they leave their villages and move to to closest main city. That causes an over population in the cities and the poverty increases in the country. According to the researchs made by independent companies, more than the 60% of the population survive with less than U$1.00 per day per capita. That means that all those people have to dress, eat, care, study with less than U$ 1.00 per day. How do they do that? Only they know how. Nicaragua is one of the poorest countries in Latin America and children are the most affected.
